Guidance meeting with IT Department Students at the Faculty of Computing in Rabigh

The
Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Computing in
Rabigh organized a guidance meeting with the participation of the IT
students and IT faculty members. The meeting took place on December 3,
2011 from 11:00 to 13:00 in FCITR auditorium.
The meeting started with a welcoming speech from the IT department
chairman, Dr Samir Boucetta. He presented the meeting objectives,
namely, a short presentation of the new tracks that are part of the new
curriculum and the equivalences issues between old and new curricula.
After that, Mr. Hussam Mustafa and Mr. Mohammad Reyalat talked about the
importance of the "Web technology" track and the job opportunities that
are available in the IT market. Dr. Amir Yaaqoub talked about "Mobile
Computing" track and its importance, particularly in the near future.
Mr. Tahir Mahmood talked about "Networks Administration and Security"
track and the increasing requests from IT companies for graduates in
this field.
Dr. Samir gave a detailed presentation about the equivalences issues and
the rules that will be used for their implementation. He presented also
a comprehensive study about the IT students situations and the number
of courses from the old curriculum that will be equivalent to others
from the new curriculum in such a way that students keep as much as
possible the credit hours they earned from the old curriculum. After
that, Dr. Samir invited all students to fill in the required information
about tracks selection to be used for equivalences and timetable
preparation.
As soon as the presentations were ended, many students asked questions
about the tracks and the equivalences process. They got answers
immediately from chairman and faculty members.
At the end of the meeting, Dr Samir thanked the faculty members and the
students and wished them luck and success. The meeting ended at 01:00
PM.
