About Department

Department of Information Technology one of the three departments in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, University of King Abdul Aziz Rabigh Branch. It was established in the academic year 1429/1430 AH and granted a bachelor's degree. The IT department was activated in the second semester of the academic year 1430/1431 AH, where the number of students who have been accepted to study in the first year in this department is 40 students. There are special elite faculty members of both sexes work in the department who are working to provide for students the best in the field of information technology with the latest technology. A number of laboratories equipped with the latest modern equipment are available in the department. Also. the classrooms are provided with the modern equipments to meet the needs of students and faculty members.

To be a leading department in the field of Information Technology, providing technology excellence and contributing to the Saudi community by offering interactive and personalized teaching experiences to our students and imparting them with leadership skills.

IT department is seeking to lead in the field of education, research and community service by preparing specialists and researchers in the different fields of IT and through providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary according to the highest academic standards taking into account the positive values and attitudes towards working in the areas of computer and information.

The objectives of the department in providing a program in information technology to produce efficiencies that can:

 

  • Enrollment specialist jobs in different areas that include the areas of finance, industrial, commercial, government, educational, and health.
  • Assist individuals and institutions to achieve the desired goals through the provision of adequate information on technical solutions and how to apply them optimally.
  • Ongoing follow-up to the developments in the field of information technology and enforcement of these updates on individuals and institutions concerned.
  • The ability to manage IT resources to individuals and institutions.
  • Knowledge of social and ethical responsibilities of IT professionals and to contribute to the development of scientific , mathematical and theory foundations, which was built on information technology.
  •  Completion of graduate studies and scientific research in the areas of information technology
Information technology has been used as a label which in general referred to computing. From the academic point of view, it refers to a degree program that qualifies students to deal with the computer technology required by business and organizations.
Information Technology specialists deal with all practical and everyday needs related to computer usage in organizations. They assure that the systems work properly and securely. They maintain, replace and upgrade the system as required.

The organization's employees need help and support from Information Technology professional to solve any problem they may face when using the systems, computer devices and networks.
Technology specialist deals with the organization’s needs which are more related to applications, deployment and configuration aspects.
