This course teaches the fundamental of information technology and the software used in IT solutions.

§ Understanding the concept of data, information & knowledge.
§ Introduction to Software
§ Role of communications and networks in motivating information technology.
§ The benefits of information technology in new (digital) society.
§ The importance of monitoring the development of IT as a field.
§ Ethics of specialization.

Course Outcomes
|
Upon finishing this course, the student should:
§ Understand the basics of IT which will include the ability to define the term "Information Technology".
§ Knowing which science that affects IT, which is:
- Computer Science,
- Information System and
- Computer Engineer.
§ Determine the areas directly affected by information technology.
§ Understanding of software applications and Information Technology, which include:
- Establishing a database using simple descriptions
given.
- Use SQL to search the database.
- The use of desktop productivity tools. |
